An in-depth look at Sweet Botanicals’ ingredients list

Here is a more in-depth look at the ingredients I use in my all-natural bath and beauty products.  Click here for an overview of my products and a link to the etsy shop for purchasing!

Refined Coconut Oil – an extremely hydrating oil extracted from raw coconut or dried coconut kernels.  It contains fatty acids (boost skin cells function, strengthening the skin’s surface layers for a smoother, healthier complexion. It also repairs the skin barrier to improve moisture and elasticity.) and also has some anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties which helps with reduction of acne and dry/irritated skin.  

Himilayan Sea Salt – When rubbed on skin, salt invigorates the skin, promoting circulation which helps your skin glow!  Using salt to remove dead skin cells helps your skin regenerate, giving your skin a firmer and more even ton.  It can also help remove bacteria and unclog your pores!

Lanolin* – is harvested from the shorn wool of sheep.  It is the oil produced by the sheep to condition their wool.  It is extremely hydrating and can significantly improve dry/flaky skin due to its ability to slow water loss from the skin.

Mango Butter – Pressed from the pit of a mango fruit.  It contains high levels of Vitamin A (helps cells normalize their functions, such as regulating oil production, reducing hyperpigmentation, promoting collagen production.  This helps your skin stay super healthy and elastic, reducing signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, and leaving your skin feel less oily.)  It contains Vitamin C (has anti-inflammatory properties, so it is able to reduce redness and irritation.  It helps reduce hyperpigmentation and promotes collagen production which can help with reducing signs of aging, such as sun spots, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles.  It is also high in antioxidants which can help reduce sun damage.)  It contains fatty acids (boost skin cells function, strengthening the skin’s surface layers for a smoother, healthier complexion. It also repairs the skin barrier to improve moisture and elasticity.) Lastly, it is non-commodogenic, which means it is less likely to clog your pores or cause irritation to sensitive skin.

Beeswax* – Not only does beeswax help create a thicker product, it helps form a protective barrier on your skin which seals in moisture without clogging pores.  It also contains Vitamin A (helps cells normalize their functions, such as regulating oil production, reducing hyperpigmentation, promoting collagen production.  This helps your skin stay super healthy and elastic, reducing signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, and leaving your skin feel less oily.)

Grapeseed Oil – is extracted from grapeseeds after they have been used to make wine.  The oil is light, yet moisturizing and has high levels of fatty acids (boost skin cells function, strengthening the skin’s surface layers for a smoother, healthier complexion. It also repairs the skin barrier to improve moisture and elasticity.), and Vitamin E (has anti-inflammatory properties, which enables it to reduce redness and irritation. Baking Soda: Baking soda has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and can help soothe irritated/itchy skin.

Citric Acid: Citric Acid has protective antioxidant, and corrective anti-aging effects.  It works on the upper layer of dead skin cells to exfoliate and clean pores, even skin tone and soften and smooth the skin

Epsom Salts: There is not a ton of scientific research regarding epsom salts but Epsom salt bathwater is known to soften rough, dry skin, and exfoliate dead skin cells. An epsom salt bath may also provide pain relief and reduce swelling in people with certain types of inflammatory conditions due to its magnesium content, which may help the body get rid of toxins responsible for exacerbating inflammation while also reducing swelling, stiffness, and pain.

Cornstarch: Cornstarch’s anti-inflammatory properties help to soothe skin rashes, burns and itching.

Shea Butter – Extracted from shea tree nuts.  It has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties which helps with improving fine lines and wrinkles as well as dry/irritated skin.  It is a great emollient that creates a soft barrier on your skin to lock in moisture.  

Cocoa Butter – Extracted from cacao beans.  It is high in fatty acids (boost skin cells function, strengthening the skin’s surface layers for a smoother, healthier complexion. It also repairs the skin barrier to improve moisture and elasticity.) and is a great emollient that creates a soft barrier on your skin to lock in moisture.  

Rosehip oil – derived from the fruit and seeds of a rose plant (not the petals, like rose oil).  A quick absorbing oil, it contains fatty acids (boost skin cells function, strengthening the skin’s surface layers for a smoother, healthier complexion.
